UWM Student Experience Project. Fall 2024
The Student Experience Project is a nationwide, interdisciplinary program designed to bring evidence-based best practices in teaching to the classroom. These focus on communicating to students that they are welcomed in the classroom and that, while the expectations of the class are high, their instructor is confident that they are able to meet those expectations. Moreover, the instructor is available to help students in whatever way they can, and when a student as a problem that the instructor can't help with, the instructor can connect the student with resources that may prove useful.
UWM Fall Teaching Seminar. Fall 2023
The UWM Fall Teaching Seminar is a semester-long seminar designed to ease the transition into instruction for new graduate students. It focuses on helping new graduate students establish a rhythm in instruction and establishing good habits with regards to lectures and interactions with students.
Events organized
Students United for Faster Enumerative Reasoning fest (SUFFERfest). August 2024.
Among the graduate students at UW - Milwaukee I organized a week-long, intensive algebraic combinatorics reading group. We read out of chapter 7 of Enumerative Combinatorics, Vol. 2 by Richard Stanley with the goal of better understanding symmetric function theory. We generally spent 3 hours each day reading as a group, then 3 hours each day working in small groups on exercises.
Algebraic Geometry Reading Group. Spring 2024.
I organized a reading group out of Gathmann's algebraic geometry class notes in the spring of 2024. We would read a section of the notes each week, with one person assigned to read particularly closely so they would be able to answer the other participants' questions. After some discussion of the chapter, we would work on exercises.
